A woman in Miami Gardens, Fla., is facing charges of practicing dentistry without a license and possessing prescription drugs with the intent to sell or deliver, according to a May 22 report from Local 10 News.

Maria Del Carmen Fontaine-Uliver, 33, was arrested by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office following an undercover investigation that found illegal dental operations being performed at a house.

Detectives said they observed Ms. Fontaine-Uliver actively performing dental work on a patient at the office, which appeared to be a fully functioning dental practice. A search found six vials of Xylocaine, a local anesthetic used in dental procedures.

Ms. Fontaine-Uliver said that she is licensed in Cuba, but not in the U.S., the report said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
