8 moves advancing medical-dental integration in 2022

Several dental companies have launched initiatives this year to further medical-dental integrated care.

Eight moves in 2022 to know: 

  • In June, Sonrava Health opened an office housing the LooksBrite Eye Center and Western Dental & Orthodontics in South Gate, Calif. 
  • Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services became the first DSO to integrate dental and medical data with Epic’s electronic health record system and launched an integrated medical-dental practice in Las Vegas. The DSO also launched an initiative in support of American Heart Month and landed a deal with Commonwealth Primary Care ACO to provide integrated medical-dental services for in-network patients. 
  • Denver Health Family Health Center in Montbello integrated dental and medical care in May by offering vaccinations for children during their dental appointments.
  • The TeleDentists, a network of dentists offering teledentistry services, launched the first integrated dental-medical platform.
  • In February, the American Dental Education Association released a report detailing how integrated medical and dental care can lead to improved diagnosis and management of diabetes.
