Here are the legal settlements affecting dental companies that have taken place since February:
1. Chicago-based Aspen Dental will pay $2 million in penalties and $300,000 in restitution to settle allegations from the California attorney general that it unlawfully interfered with dental operations and engaged in misleading advertising.
2. Las Vegas-based Absolute Dental gained preliminary court approval to settle a class-action lawsuit related to its 2025 data breach for $3.3 million.
3. Corey Jerrod Williams, DMD, agreed to surrender his license as part of a settlement agreement with the Iowa Dental Board. The state dental board accused Corey Jerrod Williams, DMD, of failing to maintain a satisfactory standard of competency, according to board records. The board launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from a patient who accused Dr. Williams of extracting the wrong tooth.
