30+ dental acquisitions in 2022

Here are more than 30 dental company acquisitions that took place in 2022:

1. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Dental365 acquired two New Jersey practices: Amboy Dental Arts in South Amboy and Twenty-First Century Dental in Tinton Falls.

2. Boca Raton, Fla.-based DSO Sage Dental acquired dental practices in Wesley Chapel and New Tampa, Fla., in November and five other practices in Florida in February.

3. Cloud 9 Software, a dental practice management system, acquired orthodontics-focused practice management platform Focus Ortho.

4. United Dental Corp., a dental partnership organization, entered the U.S. market by purchasing seven practices in three states.

5. Tempe, Ariz.-based Gen4 Dental Partners acquired Stoner Periodontic & Implant Specialists, which has locations in Dublin, New Albany, Upper Arlington and Chillicothe, Ohio. It also purchased Bay Area Dental, a multilocation practice in the San Francisco Bay Area; Grand Haven, Mich.-based DSO Smile One Services; and Phoenix-based Harris Dental

6. Tampa, Fla.-based Today’s Dental Network acquired the practice of Marc D. Lefton, DDS, in Sarasota, Fla.

7. BlackRock Long Term Private Capital acquired a majority interest in Lincoln, Neb.-based Paradigm Oral Health, which partners with oral surgeons and allows them to use its practice management technology platform while maintaining their brand. 

8. Orange, Calif.-based Brident Dental & Orthodontics acquired Royal Dental in Houston.

9. Henry Schein completed its acquisition of privately held Swiss dental distribution company Condor Dental Research Co. in July.

10. Nashville, Tenn.-based US Dental Surgery Network acquired a Massachusetts practice and added seven New England practices. 

11. Straumann Group, a dental equipment and supply manufacturer, acquired a minority stake and invested in dental software company Carestack.

12. Riverside Oral Surgery, the largest surgeon-owned and operated oral surgery practice in New Jersey, acquired the Warren-based dental practice from James McMenamin, DMD.

13. Dental electronic data interchange company DentalXChange acquired dental software company ExtraDent.

14. Sonrava Health completed its acquisition of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based DSO Mid-Atlantic Dental Partners in June. 

15. Abra Health, an integrated dental and medical provider, purchased a multispecialty dental practice in Kearny, N.J.

16. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Premier Care Dental Management acquired Coventry, R.I.-based Eric George, DMD & Associates.

17. Sun Life Financial, a global financial services firm, completed its acquisition of DentaQuest, a dental benefits provider.

18. Envista Holdings Corp. entered a definitive agreement to acquire Osteogenics Biomedical, a dental bone grafting product supplier. It also completed its acquisition of Carestream Dental’s intraoral scanner business in May.

19. Prism Health North Texas, a healthcare nonprofit, acquired Community Dental Care of Texas, both in Dallas, to increase access to each other’s services and provide care to those with HIV/AIDS.

20. Espire Dental, a physician-led integrated dental organization, acquired Meadows Dental Group in Lone Tree, Colo., and six other dental practices in Colorado from Todd Matheson, DMD.

21. Spark Orthodontics acquired Werner Orthodontics, a practice with locations in Indianapolis and Greenfield, Ind.

22. Raleigh, N.C.-based Oakpoint acquired the nonclinical assets of Wendell (N.C.) Family Dentistry.

23. Enable Dental, an at-home dental service company, acquired Healier, a care coordination platform.

24. Solmetex, a dental waste compliance product company, acquired dental supplier DryShield.

25. Epic Insurance Brokers and Consultants acquired Treloar & Heisel, expanding Epic’s financial planning and insurance services to dental and medical professionals.

26. Houston-based Endo1 Partners acquired Bloomfield, Mich.-based Endodontic Associates, a nine-location practice that employs nearly 30 percent of Michigan’s endodontists.

27. Madison, Wis.-based DSO Cherry Tree Dental expanded into Minnesota with its acquisition of Downtown Dental Associates in Minneapolis, Robert J. Kingston, DDS, in Minneapolis and Fairmont (Minn.) Family Dentistry.

28. West Chester, Pa.-based Spark Dental Management acquired Children’s Dental Management.

29. National Dentex Labs acquired Biotech Dental Prosthetics as the fifth full-service dental lab in its Florida network.

30. Little Rock, Ark.-based Rock Dental Brands acquired 10 dental clinics in Arkansas and Missouri.

31. Oral Surgery Partners acquired seven practices in Georgia, Indiana, Texas, North Dakota, Missouri, North Carolina and South Carolina.
