California dental professionals now have 2.5 years to satisfy licensing requirements

California dental hygienists and dental assistants who haven't been able to take the exams necessary to receive their licenses due to pandemic-induced restrictions now have extra time to fulfill the requirements, according to the California Dental Association.

Many California dental hygienists and dental assistants have not been able to complete their registration or license renewal programs due to restrictions brought about by the pandemic. The state's department of consumer affairs responded to this problem on Sept. 30 by issuing a waiver that gives them two years and six months from the date the original application was received by the Dental Board of California to complete their licensing exams.

This waiver extends the department's Aug. 27 waiver that gave dental professionals until Feb. 27, 2021, to complete their exams.
