10 updates on the dental industry in Florida in 1 month

Here are 10 updates on dentistry in Florida that Becker's has reported since March 26:

1. Suncoast Career Academy opened a training facility in Brandon, Fla., to help alleviate the state's dental assistant shortage.

2. Boca Raton, Fla.-based Sage Dental opened two practices in Florida, bringing the DSO's total network to more than 120 locations across Florida and Georgia.

3. Modis Dental Partners, a DSO focused on practices that provide dental implants, added a Florida periodontics and implant dentistry practice.

4. Heartland Dental affiliated with South Florida Sedation Dentistry.

5. Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services added Periodontics Health Group, which provides periodontic services in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.

6. Endodontic Practice Partners affiliated with Heartland Endodontics in Seabring, Fla.

7. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reassigned a dental fraud investigation to State Attorney Brian Kramer after the original attorney recused herself .

8. A dental practice in Stuart, Fla., was evacuated after a fire broke out. 

9. Boca Raton-based Florida Atlantic University may no longer be opening a dental school after having two sources of funding fall through.

10. Sacramento, Calif.-based Straine Dental Management entered Florida, its 12th state, with the affiliation of a pediatric dental practice.
