1. The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine plans to open its third training center to boost the dental workforce and increase dental care accessibility.
2. Statesboro-based Georgia Southern University broke ground April 29 on construction of the state’s second dental school.
3. Nancy Young, DMD, dean of the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta (Ga.) University died June 6 at the age of 58.
4. The University of Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine plans to end its oral and maxillofacial surgery advanced residency program at the end of the academic year.
5. Steven Lepowsky, DDS, was appointed to a second term as dean of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington.
