The Texas Tech Hunt School of Dental Medicine in El Paso is launching a master’s degree program in dentistry with a specialization in orthodontics, according to a May 8 report from CBS 4 News.
The new program includes a certificate in dentofacial orthopedics. West Texas has a shortage of specialized dentists and the region does not currently have an orthodontic training program.
Over the first five years, the program is expected to create $7.5 million in revenue and cost the school about $5.8 million.
Only three students will be accepted into the program, the report said.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
