A Canadian DSO entered the U.S. dental market for the first time in July, as domestic operators continued expanding through acquisitions and de novo openings across nine states.
These states saw at least two DSO moves in July, as reported by Becker’s, including practice openings, acquisitions and affiliations.

Georgia
- Henderson, Nev.-based PDS Health opened Dentists of Union Grove in McDonough, Ga.
- Chesterfield, Mo.-based Oral Surgery Partners partnered with Austin Meadows, DMD, MD, in Columbus, Ga.
- Chicago-based Aspen Dental opened a practice in Perry, Ga.
- Denver-based Lone Peak Dental Group added 11 pediatric dental and orthodontics offices in Georgia and South Carolina.
Florida
- PDS Health opened Dentists of Doral (Fla.) West.
- Toronto-based Dentalcorp entered the U.S. market after acquiring Northstar Dental Partners, a 21-practice DSO headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla.
- Effingham, Ill.-based Heartland Dental partnered with Denta Smiles in Coral Springs, Fla.
Massachusetts
- New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Premier Care Dental Management added Brookline (Mass.) Smile Artists to its network.
- Miami-based Guardian Dentistry Partners entered into a definitive agreement for a strategic majority acquisition of Florham Park, N.J.-based Select Dental Management, which supports practices in Massachusetts.
Maryland
- Guardian Dentistry Partners’ majority acquisition of Select Dental Management, also includes practices in Maryland.
- Phoenix-based SALT Dental Partners partnered with Chesapeake Pediatric Dental Group, which has five locations throughout Maryland.
North Carolina
- PDS Health opened Huntersville (N.C.) Modern Dentistry.
- SALT Dental Partners added MyOrthodontist, a 14-location practice in North Carolina.
Ohio
- Houston-based Specialty1 Partners added a new joint venture partnership with Periodontal Associates, which has two locations in Ohio.
- New York City-based Rising Tide Dental Partners partnered with its first practice in Ohio.
South Carolina
- Aspen Dental opened a practice location in Travelers Rest, S.C.
- Lone Peak Dental Group added 11 pediatric dental and orthodontics offices in Georgia and South Carolina.
Tennessee
- PDS Health opened Dentists of Westlawn in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
- Oral Surgery Partners partnered with Qingcong Zeng, DDS, MD, who owns three practice locations in Tennessee.
Texas
- PDS Health opened two de novo practices in Texas.
- Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Imagen Dental Partners affiliated with two practices in San Antonio.
