Dr. Geisinger is currently the director of advanced education in periodontology and acting chair in the department of periodontology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry.
Her past roles include serving as a diplomate for the American Board of Periodontology and the president of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, according to a Dec. 5 news release.
Ana Becil Giglio, DDS, was also appointed president-elect.
