Here are five dentists making headlines.

A federal judge dismissed a case brought against Brian Perelmuter, DMD, after an inmate at Cheshire Correctional Institution filed a $5 million lawsuit against the dentist for punitive damages.

Richard Gottfried, DMD, 65, was among the 11 victims killed by a gunman during a service in a Pittsburgh synagogue.

A Dallas County jury found Kristopher Love guilty in the death of pediatric dentist Kendra Hatcher, DDS, 35.

Justin VanBibber, DDS, and Lone Peak Management Group are accused of instructing Tacoma, Wash.-based Smiles 4 Kids and other pediatric practices in the chain to reuse mouthpieces.
