9 dental data breaches in 2026

Here are nine dental practices that have been hit with cyberattacks so far this year:

1. Tampa Bay Dental Implants & Periodontics in St. Petersburg, Fla., experienced a ransomware incident that affected its internal server containing backups of electronic medical records. The information that may have been affected by the incident includes names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, clinical history, treatment notes and financial information. The breach affected 6,400 individuals.

2. Jenks, Okla.-based Lumio Dental suffered a data breach affecting 500 individuals. The Nitrogen ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack on the dark web in February. The data compromised in the breach reportedly includes passports, driver’s licenses and information from medical records.

3. Kirkland, Wash.-based Totem Lake Family Dentistry experienced a data security incident in June. The practice detected unauthorized access to an employee email account on or about June 2. An investigation determined that some of the practice’s files, including those that contained protected health information, may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual.

4. Verber Dental Group, which has 14 locations in Pennsylvania, identified unusual activity within its network Jan. 27. An investigation determined that certain data may have been accessed or acquired without authorization, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical information and health insurance information.

5. Anacortes, Wash.-based Bayside Dental was alerted to unauthorized access to its network on or around Jan. 5. A ransomware group named Sinobi claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it obtained 580 gigabytes of data, including customer information, contracts and incident records. 

6. Tieu Dental Corporation, which has locations in Campbell and Morgan Hill, Calif., said an unauthorized actor accessed its network between July 28 and July 29, and may have also acquired files containing protected health information. The data that may have been affected includes full names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical records, treatment plans, prescriptions and health insurance information.

7. Issaqueena Pediatric Dentistry experienced a ransomware attack affecting 501 individuals. An unauthorized actor gained access to certain files within its systems between Nov. 9 and 11. An investigation determined that the unauthorized actor accessed certain files.

8. Grand Prairie, Texas-based Pecan Tree Dental experienced a data breach affecting 13,300 individuals. The practice launched an investigation after becoming aware of a cybersecurity issue affecting its computer systems.

9. 360 Dental, a dental practice in Philadelphia, experienced a computer security incident affecting 11,273 individuals. On Nov. 16, 2025, the practice identified an authorized party had accessed its internal computer system and locked certain files, which may have exposed information stored on the server.
