The biggest DSO news so far in 2022

From practice acquisitions to investments and industry partnerships, here is the biggest DSO news Becker's has reported on since the start of 2022:

  1. Sonrava Health completed its acquisition of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based DSO Mid-Atlantic Dental Partners.
  2. Carrollton, Texas-based MB2 Dental entered Ohio and North Carolina and reached its  400th practice milestone.
  3. Irving, Texas-based U.S. Oral Surgery Management's partner practices reached a new milestone by consistently achieving a net promoter score of 80 or above.
  4. Sarasota, Fla.-based Dental Care Alliance reorganized its structure with the addition of a second support division for specialty dental practices. 
  5. Tampa, Fla.-based DSO Today's Dental Network partnered with Contemporary Periodontics & Implant Dentistry in St. Petersburg, Fla., its fifth periodontal practice.
  6. Georgetown, Texas-based Smile Doctors began partnering with Minor League Baseball to spread awareness about orthodontics care to adults and children. It also reached 324 supported clinics and gained an investment from private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners.
  7. Sarasota, Fla.-based Dental Care Alliance welcomed its first practice affiliation of 2022 with the addition of Old Bridge (N.J.) Dental Group to its network.
  8. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Dental365 acquired two Rhode Island dental practices, marking the 95th and 96th practices under its parent organization, Premier Dental Care Management. 
  9. Raleigh, N.C.-based Oakpoint added endodontic services to its roster through partnerships with two practices: Wake Forest (N.C.) Endodontics and Crabtree Endodontics in Cary, N.C.
  10. Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Peak Dental Services launched an opportunity for its hygienists nationwide to become owners. It also surpassed 50 supported practices.
  11. Aspen Dental partnered with the Dental Assisting National Board and its affiliate organization, the Dale Foundation, to invest in dental radiography training and credentials for dental assistants in the Aspen Dental network.
  12. Straine Dental Consulting formed a dentist-owned and led DSO, Straine Dental Management.
  13. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Premier Care Dental Management launched a scholarship program for its employees and their family members. 
  14. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Imagen Dental Partners added its first Texas practice.
  15. Tempe, Ariz.-based Gen4 Dental Partners appointed former Rite-Aid exec Rob Mullins as COO.
  16. Eau Claire​, Wis.-based Simko Specialty Dental and private equity firm Blue Sea Capital entered a strategic partnership to form Specialty Smile Partners.
  17. Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services launched an integrated medical-dental practice in Las Vegas. 
  18. Chicago-based DSO Aspen Dental committed to training 700 dentists on dental implant services in 2022.
  19. Florham Park, N.J.-based Select Dental Management expanded its specialty services to include sleep apnea treatment and sedation dentistry.
  20. Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services reached a milestone by producing more than 3 million same-day dental restorations at its partner practices. 
  21. Nashville, Tenn.-based DSO Specialty Dental Brands closed a $660 million senior credit facility from Oxford Finance.
  22. Dallas-based Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics experienced a data breach affecting more than 1 million patients.
  23. Private equity firm Thurston Group formed Richmond Hill, Ga.-based DSO SGA Dental Partners by merging three dental groups based in the Southeast region.
  24. Denton, Texas-based DSO Community Dental Partners entered the Indiana market, marking its first affiliation outside Texas.
  25. Miami-based Guardian Dentistry Partners added its first South Carolina practice.
  26. Chicago-based Aspen Group announced it would convert all its Aspen Dental offices to be fully digital by early 2023.
  27. Orange, Calif.-based Western Dental and anchored denture company Renew partnered to build surgery centers in California and Texas.
  28. West Chester, Pa.-based Spark Dental Management acquired Children's Dental Management along with its 35 locations and five accredited dental surgery centers.
