Patients of public health dentists wait twice as long for appointments

Patients of record at dentists in public health settings have to wait 22 business days for an appointment, according to a survey from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.

The wait time for public health setting practices is more than double the period for patients at general private practice dentists, where patients have to wait an average of 10.9 business days.

Patients for pediatric dentists in private practice have a wait time in between general practice and public health dentists, waiting an average of 14.1 business days.

The data was collected from the ADA's "Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry Specialists Report" from September.
