Here are 33 dental school updates that have taken place so far in 2025, including expansions, research grants, dean appointments and more:
1. Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University is partnering with the Kahler Slater architecture firm to construct a new building for its dental school.
2. Margaret Hill, DMD, was appointed the permanent dean of the University of Louisville (Ky.) School of Dentistry after serving in the interim since 2022.
3. Little Rock, Ark.-based Lyon College School of Dental Medicine welcomed its first class of students.
4. Two professors from Stony Brook University received a $300,000 grant from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research to determine whether dental imaging can be used to detect early signs of heart disease.
